Your Hosts
Having been in the restaurant business for 25 years and counting, Anna Maria and Alfonso Acampora are known for treating their customers like family. Both were born and raised in Italy, a country known for it's warmth and hospitality. Anna Maria is Sicilian while Alfonso grew up on the Amalfi Coast.
After attending the Culinary Institute of Rimini, Alfonso perfected his culinary skills by working all over Europe, including Germany, Switzerland and France. Combined with Anna Maria's business sense and warm personality, the couple have owned and run successful restaurants both in the U.S. ("La Conca D'oro" in Catskill, NY) as well as in their native country ("Il Giardino" in Calatafimi, Sicily).
In November of 2000, they purchased the La Perla Restaurant & Country Inn from Bob and Bette Jewell. The Acamporas had never run an inn before, but adapted instantly. They redecorated all 12 rooms, giving each one it's own theme. They also enhanced the restaurant section by adding a new bar and dining area (complete with a firewood brick oven) allowing guests to choose between a fine dining experience or the more casual "light fare" menu.
